New on the list of, “Things that I really want to build but really shouldn’t build;” a slammed mini-truck! *Cue small photo dump*

Oh, my aching back!
Having grown up during the heyday of minitrucks and having owned two small trucks of my own (not slammed), I can say that there is no way I’d want to own one. Every one I’ve seen bounced all over the road, even over little expansion joints. My cousin’s B-2200 would rattle the fillings out of your teeth. It felt like it was riding on the bump stops all the time.
They are fun to look at, but not fun to drive.

Yum! Black riveted/bolted fender flares! Chin spoilers under a real bumper!
Yuck! Externally mounted trans/engine oil coolers. Because even in a dystopian future, you don’t want such a critical part that is easy to puncture in the open. That is why grills exist.

I’m sure this is accurate, but I can’t help but want one still. I certainly wouldn’t want to daily one, but for a weekend cruiser it could be a blast.
What I really want to do someday is build one with a pushrod suspension in front and back. (Pushrod + bags that is)

I could see bagging one so that it can be driven on normal roads at somewhat normal ride heights with normal suspension.
We have a shop nearby that bags full-sized trucks, so I see them regularly, but I’ve never seen a bagged minitruck in person. Most of the minis were done with flipped axles, blocks, and cut springs. This is why they rode so rough.

That’s probably how i’d do it initially. I’ve got an idea for a bit of a strange bag + pushrod design I want to draw up though. Basically it’d sit low-ish without pressure and with the bags pressurized it’d get pushed lower. AKA it’d be drive-ably low normally and for shows and such it could be pushed to the ground.

Normally, the bags take the place of the springs. So, you are talking about something with bags and springs? That would mean it would be at the highest when the bags were completely depressurized?
Seems complicated and heavy.

It’s probably a terrible idea but it’d be fun to attempt.
Actually this is probably a better way to get the benefits of both

$3500 takes it.

It’s owned by a friend of mine. The truck is gorgeous (I may be biased, I painted it), has low miles, a complete airbag setup, and drives/rides really nice.
